Atlanta Lawn Care
Spring has finally sprung in Atlanta. Unfortunately that means all of the spring weeds have as well. This year is extremely weedy with all of the rain we have had it has weakened the preemergent applied to the warm season turfs last fall or if nothing was done you are really loaded with weeds. The good news is our weed control program will get them under control fast. Also with the temperatures on the rise the warm season grasses will start to green up and start their growing season and be searching for fertilizer. If the rain patterns continue it will be vital to keep them fed through the year or fungus problems will begin to show up and start to weaken the lawn. THE SOLUTION IS TO GET ON OUR LAWN TREATMENT SERVICE NOW. Just go to our website: arborandturf.net and sign up for an estimate or call us. Have a Great 2010

Building a Small Wall Block System
Next you want to put your base down of 57 stone about 3 - 4 inches thick. This will establish a good base to build the wall on. You will lay your first course starting with the first block and leveling it side to side and front to back. Each stone is then set for the first course the same way. The first course is the hardest as you need to level each stone and maintain the height of the wall to be even with the preceding block
As you build the first course you will want to fill in the holes of the blocks and the gaps of the blocks with the gravel which will help to stabalize the wall. This wall was only one course tall so the very next course was the capstones.
To put the finishing touches on you will use liquid nails to secure the capstones and grade up to your wall to finish it off. A little pinestraw and we are complete. Hope this helps out with any questions you might have had. Should you still have questions please visit our website and give us a call or an email and we will be glad to assist you. Build Well

The Garden
I have been working in my backyard for about 3 years now. It started as an overgrown wasteland of overgrown bushes, debris, dirt, english ivy, large poplar trees and a ditch. The ditch I found out is actually a raging whitewater body of water when it rains hard but then dries up and needs to be kept clean of debris until the next rain. If it is not and backs up then things start to float.
I have come up with quit an extensive plan for the back yard and over the three year period have improved it a great deal with some of the learned skills I needed to acquire to build the different things I have incorporated into the backyard. They range from a stream and pond with a stone front to the pond so you can sit at the edge to a Japanese Garden and now I am in the middle of creating a teahouse to fit into the layout of the garden.
I will share with you the details of the pond building in the first part of this blog.
Leave any comments about things you might like me to touch on.

The Beginning
I have spent the better part of my adult life in the lawn care and landscaping business and throughout that time have taught myself a good deal of skills associated with the landscape/hardscape and construction business. As I needed to learn a new skill for a particular job or interest I had I searched out the web and other sources to get answers for my questions and techniques of the skill set I needed to achieve the particular task I was taking on. In most cases I found limited or incomplete lessons on what I needed to do. I have decided to compose as much as possible the more complete lessons that I have learned along the way based on my utilization of the materials and sources I found to at least point me in the right direction and then the "on the job training" I experienced and inevitably honed to complete the particular task I was trying to accomplish. I hope this is of help and assistance to you. If there is anything I did not cover or you would like me to include please let me know.
